What is Chinese Cupping?
Cupping is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy that uses a can as a tool to generate negative pressure through methods such as burning fire and pumping air. This causes the can to adhere to the body surface and cause local blood stasis, in order to achieve the effects of promoting meridian circulation; activating QI and blood circulation reducing swelling and pain dispelling wind and dispelling cold. Cupping therapy has a long history in ancient China. As early as the Western Han Dynasty there were records of the :Jiao Fa:in the silk book Fifty Two Disease Formulas And cupping therapy was also popular in Ancient Greece and Rome abroad.
How it works
A practitioner places a heated or suctioned cup on the skin, creating negative pressure that pulls the skin upward. The cups can be made of glass, ceramic, bamboo, or plastic.
